director of institutional giving
Since joining her church’s cherub choir at the age of five, Michelle Weger and music have been inseparable. While earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in voice from Cal State Fullerton and the University of Michigan, respectively, she found deep satisfaction (and sometimes a paycheck) working on behalf of a variety of non-profit organizations. Over the years, these have included public and university libraries, Amnesty International, Angels Gate Cultural Center and Para Los Niños. The two paths merged when Michelle came to work for LACO in 1998, though she never dreamed that the most challenging part of her job would someday be thinking up 23 creative ways to remind concert-goers to silence their mobile devices.
Like most residents of Pasadena, Michelle has attended the Rose Parade in person exactly once, though she enjoys volunteering for the city’s visitor hotline during Tournament week. Her personal obsessions/compulsions include live theatre, public radio, farmers markets, surfing the blogosphere, getting a lane to herself at the aquatic center and searching for the perfect shade of red lipstick.
