A native of Los Angeles, Rhoadell has been playing trombone since he was 16. Having attended El Camino College to study trombone performance, he transferred to California State University Fullerton and received his Bachelors in Music. Rhoadell was involved in a wide array of performing ensembles, and notably held the principle trombone seat for the CSUF orchestra.
Rhoadell has been an Instructor and mentor for the trombone section of the University of Southern California Trojan Marching Band for 11 years. From 2010-2014, he served as Assistant Director for small ensembles. While a part of this renowned program, he has relished the opportunity to play for countless audiences across the world. As a performing member with the Trojan Marching Band, Rhoadell has played for Dignitaries at World Expos in Japan, Shanghai, and Milan, as well as in Macau for the Chinese New Year. He has performance twice at the Grammys as part of special performances by Outkast and Radiohead. Additionally, he can be heard with the Trojan Marching Band, under the direction of film composer Alan Silvestri, on the soundtrack to The Croods. Rhoadell also serves as a mentor for the Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles, were he enjoys annual performances at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
In 2014, Rhoadell travelled abroad to Budapest, Hungary and volunteered at the Liszt Ferenc Jazz Academy, while his wife Alexandra pursed her Olympic dreams in Waterpolo. During his stay, he taught English and was a regular sub for the Modern Art Orchestra Jazz Band of Budapest on trombone.
Following this stint in Hungary, he returned to beautiful Los Angeles, where he currently performs with the Baker Brothers Big Band and lives in Koreatown with his wife and two cats, Cooper and Helios.
