Richard Altenbach

Richard Altenbach joined the first violin section of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra in 1990.
Formerly associate concertmaster of the Omaha Symphony and Nebraska Sinfonia, Altenbach has also served in that position for the Hollywood Bowl and LA Opera orchestras and the Pasadena and New West symphonies. He was also a member of the first violins in the Houston Symphony and Joffrey Ballet Orchestra for several years. Currently, is concertmaster for the Mozart Classical Orchestra that performs at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa, California.
Altenbach is a frequent participant in small chamber ensembles throughout the Los Angeles area. He has been a member of the Fontenelle String Quartet, the Arnaeus Chamber Ensemble and the Greenleaf Piano Trio.
An active violinist in the studio recording industry, Altenbach also composes for film and video games. In summer 2007, Altenbach was chosen among 12 composers worldwide to participate in the ASCAP Film Composers Workshop. This gave him the opportunity to compose and record his score with an orchestra at 20th Century Fox Studios. He recently composed the score to a short film to be featured at Sundance 2008.
Altenbach and wife Dawn became the proud parents of baby Bren in summer 2007.
