Oscar Hidalgo, associate principal bass, joined the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra in 1996. He received his bachelor’s degree in double bass performance from the University of Southern California in 1983.

From 1985 – 1986 he was a guest student at the Hochschule für Kunst und Musik in Graz, Austria. During this time he freelanced in Europe performing, among others, at the Rossini International Opera Festival in Pesaro, Italy as well as with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra in Austria and the Chamber Orchestra PER MUSICA in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

In the Southland, he has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Opera, and Hollywood Bowl orchestras, the Pasadena, Long Beach, San Diego and Pacific symphonies, and at the Ojai Music Festival. He has also appeared regularly at the Oregon Bach Festival.

Oscar is active the movie and television recording studios of Los Angeles.
