Steven Scharf is a freelance violinist and orchestra manager in the Los Angeles area. Mr. Scharf spent five years at the University of Southern California where he studied violin with Eudice Shapiro. In 1980 Scharf played with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and joined them on a European tour, all under the leadership of Carlo Maria Giulini. Since 1981 he has been a member of the Bach Collegium Stuttgart where he works on projects with the renowned Bach specialist Helmuth Rilling.

Mr. Scharf is the personnel manager to three orchestras in Southern California. He works with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Los Angeles Master Chorale Sinfonia, and the Pasadena Pops Orchestra. Scharf is also a founding member of the Armadillo String Quartet. He recently founded the Crown City Consort; a group of talented artists dedicated to the music of J.S. Bach.

While these musical endeavors keep him very busy, he has a passion for photography and sports. As Scharf says, “You gotta love those Lakers!”
