Steven Scharf is a freelance violinist and orchestra manager in the Los Angeles area. Steven spent five years at the University of Southern California where he studied violin with Eudice Shapiro. In 1980 Steven played with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and joined them on a European tour, all under the leadership of Carlo Maria Giulini. Since 1981 he has been a member of the Bach Collegium Stuttgart where he works on projects with the renowned Bach specialist Helmuth Rilling and each summer for the past thirty three years he has played with Rilling at the Oregon Bach Festival.
Steven is the personnel manager to two orchestras in Southern California. He works with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Los Angeles Master Chorale Orchestra. As a violinist, he plays for the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra. He is also a founding member of the Armadillo String Quartet.
While these musical endeavors keep him very busy, he also has a passion for photography and sports.
