Our wonderful intern Luz Valencia concluded her internship with LACO this Wednesday and today completes the Constitutional Rights Foundation program at a culmination event. We are very proud of her and anticipate a bright future for this hard-working and focused teen. Below Luz looks back on her stay with LACO.
When I first began my journey here at LACO I was not sure what to expect. However, I did underestimate the workload. During my time as an intern, although limited, I learned a valuable lesson: experience is an asset of which no one can be cheated because no matter how big or small a task is you are learning in the process.
Being an intern at LACO was one of the best experiences of my life. I was given the opportunity to work with amazing individuals not only in marketing but also in production and education. I was not treated as a high school student, but as an adult with responsibilities. One of my many responsibilities was to put together a repertoire for an audition which did take some time, but was worth it and very exciting for me. As a music student getting away from paper work and gazing upon familiar music made me feel comfortable. I also learned many new things about different styles of music I was not so familiar with before.
After having been an intern at LACO I have come to the conclusion that working in administration is definitely on my list. Although it pains me to bid farewell I must go, but I will surely come back to visit my friends at LACO and volunteer!
