Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra: making great music personal

family concert series

Unlock the magic of great music!

LACO’s family concert series opens the door for kids to enjoy this magical sound world now and for the rest of their lives.

Let LACO share the joy of music with the young people in your life with these interactive concerts and fun activities.

Recommended for children 5 years and older.

1 pm – 2 pm: Kids get to bang, pluck, bow and blow on real instruments at our popular Instrument Petting Zoo and enjoy fun-filled pre-concert activities, themed around the music, with Kidspace Children’s Museum and our concert partners.

2 pm: The concert begins. Our short programs are designed to introduce kids to the wonder of classical music. Each concert includes an opportunity for young ones to ask questions of the musicians.

Want to teach your kids more about classical music in a fun and interactive way?

Visit Classics for Kids with your children to find kid-friendly games, music dictionaries and composer biographies, as well as creative music resources for you and your kids’ teachers. Enjoy!

Make a musical instrument with your kids!

Help your kids create their own homemade guitar with just a few household items: a shoebox, rubber bands and paper towel rolls. Simply follow the directions here, courtesy of the PBS show Zoom. Your kids could even start a band – a “Rubber Band”!
