Today the patrons met with Thomas Aigner who is a director of the Musikarchiv. The Musikarchiv houses 200 of Franz Schubert’s original, signed manuscripts, approximately 90% of the Strauss family’s manuscripts, and a number of collections by lesser-known composers. All of Schubert’s signed manuscripts have been digitally catalogued and can be seen online at www.schubert-online.at.
Since 2006 the Musikarchiv, which is a subset of the Vienna city library, has been trying to find and procure all of Schubert’s original manuscripts.
