berlin
The patrons arrived in Berlin today (Wed. March 5) and joined Lois Evans and Gene Shutler, who had travelled to Berlin a few days early, at the luxurious Hotel Adlon Kempinski. After a couple of hours to settle in, the patrons journeyed to Berlin’s city hall, nicknamed “red town hall” due to the red brick that covers the exterior of the building, for a reception. During the reception, Permanent Secretary Barbara Kissler welcomed LACO to LA’s sister city. Jeffrey Kahane then presented her with a proclamation from Mayor Villaraigosa and talked poignantly about his family history in Germany. After several rounds of heavy hor d’oueuvres and two desserts, we took a tour of the other rooms and then headed back to our hotels for an early night.
