Spiders build delicate webs with their silky strings, while composers create beautiful music with the string instruments of the orchestra. Principals Kenneth Munday and Andrew Shulman joined LACO’s virtuoso strings for excerpts from two Vivaldi concertos, and budding 14-year-old violinist Mayumi Kanagawa performed the “Spring” concerto from the Italian master’s popular The Four Seasons.
Pre-concert activities included:
LACO’s popular Instrument Petting Zoo where kids get to bang, pluck, bow and blow on real instruments.
Look to the sky! Peer through a telescope and learn about the changing seasons with the Griffith Observatory.
Come and see Kidspace’s World Famous Spider Show and meet our science expert Silky the Spider. He’ll show you how our arachnid friends build webs out of their silky string.
