mozart & me
On Sunday, May 6, families experienced works Mozart wrote when he was just a boy, interspersed with lively enactments of the youthful composer’s letters to his father. Promising ten year-old pianist from The Colburn School, Ray Ushikubo, played variations Mozart wrote on an old folk tune you’ll recognize as “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” and soprano Krystle Casey joined the Pasadena Master Chorale for some of the master’s gorgeous vocal works.
Before the concert, families enjoyed LACO’s Instrument Petting Zoo with Pasadena Conservatory of Music, created masterpieces with crafts from Kidspace Children’s Museum, and members of Los Angeles Children’s Chorus demonstrated basic vocal techniques and exercises from their “First Experiences in Singing” classes for the littlest singers.
