LACO turns 40!
Share the occasion with festive concerts and special celebrations September 27, 2008 through June 2009. Highlights include:
- season kick-off at the Ambassador Auditorium with Sir Neville Marriner, LACO’s first music director, and current music director Jeffrey Kahane
- the west coast premiere of Osvaldo Golijov’s Azul with Yo-Yo Ma
- guest appearances by marimbist Makoto Nakura, pianists Ingrid Fliter, Jonathan Biss and David Fung, violinist Cho-Liang Lin and conductor Joana Carneiro
- the Brandenburg Concertos featuring LACO’s virtuosos, lead by concertmaster Margaret Batjer
- world premieres by Christopher Theofanidis and LACO’s versatile Richard Todd and Damian Montano
- US premieres of Lalo Schifrin’s Tangos Concertantes and Pierre Jalbert’s Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra

Toast 40 years of superb artistry in a joyful concert gala led by Sir Neville Marriner, the Orchestra’s legendary first music director and the world’s most prolific classical recording artist. Jeffrey Kahane marks this historic occasion as soloist in the Beethoven, playing under Sir Neville’s direction for the very first time. Filled with dazzling displays of orchestral virtuosity, the program celebrates the very essence of our Chamber Orchestra—40 soloists who delight in performing the classical repertoire together.

LACO’s Ruby Jubilee will launch the Orchestra’s 40th Anniversary Season at the Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena. Join LACO’s legendary first music director, Sir Neville Marriner, and the Orchestra’s beloved current music director, Jeffrey Kahane, as we commemorate 40 extraordinary years and build upon this solid foundation to ensure an equally incredible future. Includes pre-concert hors d’oeuvres and a champagne toast, concert and post-concert gala with dinner, dancing & live auction.
