Drop in on a lively discussion between Socrates and his followers on the nature of love. Comic, ethereal, purely scientific, rapturous and all-powerful, Bernstein captures every nuance of the debate described in Plato’s Symposium. A violin concerto in all but name, the Serenade is the perfect showcase for celebrated star Cho-Liang Lin. LACO’s own Susan Greenberg, known for her “panache and musical projection,” (LA Times) sets the tone with a sparkling exploration of the piccolo, flute and alto flute written for her by Hollywood-based Gernot Wolfgang. Our concert concludes with the gorgeous Schumann symphony that has been called “a miracle of the human spirit.”
