Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra: making great music personal

mozart's requiem

  • Mozart Symphony No. 39 in E-flat major
  • Mozart Requiem in D minor

Who completed Mozart’s Requiem? The answer remains shrouded in mystery, and no proof exists that Mozart heard a performance of his Symphony No. 39. Learn more about the enigmatic composer of these heart-wrenching and exalting masterpieces from a living musical genius. Helmuth Rilling, crowned with the Herbert von Karajan Music Prize in 2011, makes a welcome return to Los Angeles on the occasion of Mozart’s birthday.

“Music should startle people and reach deep down inside them, forcing them to reflect. It should never be merely ‘comfortable,’ never fossilized, never soothing.” (Helmuth Rilling)

“The USC Thornton Chamber Singers provided an exciting . . . performance.” (LA Opening Nights)
