USC Thornton School of Music and the LA Phil present the inaugural Piatigorsky International Cello Festival, in partnership with The Colburn School and LACO.

The opening performance of the festival presents seven distinguished international artists for an evening of diverse cello concertos. The Festival Orchestra, led by LACO musicians, joins this array of acclaimed cellists under the direction of Hugh Wolff.

This wide-ranging evening of cello performances features the talents of Antonio Lysy and Peter Stumpf with Vivaldi’s Double Cello Concerto, Jian Wang with Haydn’s Concerto in D major, Narek Hakhnazaryan with Saint-Saëns’ Concerto in A minor, brothers Thomas and Patrick Demenga performing the US premiere of Thomas Demenga’s Double Concerto and Jean-Guihen Queyras with Haydn’s Concerto in C major.
