Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra: making great music personal

  • Korngold “Marietta’s Lied zur Laute” from Die tote Stadt, Op. 12
  • Dahl Concerto a tre for Violin, Cello and Clarinet
  • Schumann Piano Quintet in E-flat major, Op. 44

Arnold Steinhardt was first violin of the illustrious Guarneri Quartet for its 45-year run. Born in LA in the 1930s, Steinhardt in his youth studied violin with Toscha Seidel and Peter Meremblum, who were part of the émigré community that included musical giants Stravinsky, Korngold, Dahl, Rubinstein and Piatigorsky.

Following the Orchestra’s signature “conversations” style, the musicians introduce the pieces from the stage. There is no intermission.
