Culture Clash’s satirist Richard Montoya pulls no punches on the controversial history of Chavez Ravine. Providing thought-provoking musical context for this presentation is the String Quartet by mercurial Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas. Also featured are works by his contemporary, Carlos Chávez, a cultural force who synthesized elements of Mexican, Indian and Spanish-Mexican influence in his compositions.
Following the Orchestra’s signature “conversations” style, the musicians introduce the pieces from the stage. There is no intermission.
