Discover pure Mozart gold. Piano Concerto No. 25 (1786) was only published after Mozart’s death when his widow pursued this “risky venture” herself. As she feared, Constanze was forced to sell the engraved plates of her 1797 edition to recoup her losses. The 1784 concertos, written when Mozart was the toast of Vienna, were both published successfully during his lifetime, No. 16 in 1785, and No. 18 in 1787. “...a masterful concerto,” Mozart’s father wrote of No. 18, “...I…had the great pleasure of hearing all the interplay of the instruments so clearly that for sheer delight tears came to my eyes.” (translation after Emily Anderson)
