Be there when Jeffrey Kahane premieres the first-ever concerto written specifically for him to play and conduct from the piano. The Handel, led by Margaret Batjer, showcases the versatility and range of our strings, and Beethoven’s beloved “Pastoral” Symphony brings our season to a joyful close.

Kevin Puts’s compositions are “...exhilarating and compelling…” The New York Times and “...inventive, clever, haunting and poetic.”

special note

LACO’s Sound Investment, a commissioning “club,” invites individual patrons to pool their resources to create a legacy in music. Benefits include informal previews and in-depth discussions with the composer as the work progresses, a pass to an early orchestral rehearsal, and your name inscribed on the final score, and more.

Kevin Puts, hailed as “one of the best young composers in America,” is the 2007-08 Sound Investment composer. He describes his sound as “pictorial or evocative” and his style as “Neo-Romantic with elements of minimalism.”

Puts says that he has watched Jeffrey Kahane work with orchestras, especially as a soloist-conductor, and he is excited about writing a piece especially for that dual role. “Jeffrey Kahane has this way of bringing everybody together…he reaches out to the players…for Jeff, it’s not about this power trip, being a conductor, it has only to do with making music.”

A year-long Sound Investment membership starts at $250. Enroll online , or call Michelle Weger at 213 622 7001 × 203 for more information.
