Conductor-pianist Ignat Solzhenitsyn, music director of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, joins us for these concerts. Solzhenitsyn conducts Mendelssohn’s “Italian” Symphony and leads Mozart Piano Concerto No. 27 from the piano, and LACO concertmaster Margaret Batjer leads Mozart’s Divertimento for Strings from the first chair.

The Seattle Times writes of Ignat Solzhenitsyn, “The son of Nobel-prize-winning writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the pianist-conductor may have had a few doors opened by that stellar surname – but the doors have stayed open because of this lucid, imaginative ideas and his impassioned musicianship.”
