- Haydn Symphony No. 31 in D major, “Horn signal”
Thrill to a performer as exciting to watch as he is to hear. The mesmerizing Makoto Nakura is a master of marimba. He brings his extraordinarily athletic and expressive playing to a concerto by the award-winning Pierre Jalbert, who served as LACO’s composer-in-residence from 2002 to 2005. The symphony showcases the “classical brilliance” (Die Welt) that makes Haydn one of LACO’s specialties.
“A dynamo of energy and virtuosity. Nakura transcended the limitations of this instrument in ways that were astonishing.”
