In celebration of Mozart’s 250th birthday, LACO performs all 23 of Mozart’s original piano concertos in 15 months – a feat no other American orchestra has ever attempted. And to add to the excitement, Jeffrey Kahane conducts them all from the piano.
“This was a terrific, life-affirming concert that started with gusto and just kept getting better. Buy your tickets now for the rest of this series (they won’t be easy to come by)...” – Mark Swed, Los Angeles Times about the first Mozart Festival concert in January 2006.
Following the year one’s stunningly successful presentations featuring nine Mozart piano concertos, we continue the celebration. In the 2006-07 Season, Jeffrey Kahane conducts the remaining 14 concertos from the keyboard in four Mozart Festival concerts.
Tickets for the remaining Mozart Festival concerts available online.
Co-presented by UCLA Live.
The Mozart Festival concerts featured in our 2006-07 season are made possible by generous donations from LACO supporters James & Ann Mulally, Ernest Lieblich, Carol & Bruce Ross, and Carol & Warner Henry. Support for the Mozart Festival has also been provided the The James Irvine Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
All of LACO’s Mozart Festival concerts will be broadcast nationally on NPR and on KUSC 91.5 FM in Southern California.
LACO enjoyed the distinction of being the only American orchestra featured in NPR’s 2006 international Mozart celebration around Mozart’s actual birth date, January 27, with the broadcast of our first Mozart Festival concert. This concert was also broadcast live on 91.5 KUSC FM.
