Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra: making great music personal

westside connections

Curated by concertmaster Margaret Batjer, this innovative LACO chamber music series on the Westside invites you to take a look at the connections between music and other artistic disciplines. This season, we examine the links between Music and the Culinary Arts. Purchase your subscriptions online.

Batjer has invited three culinary icons to share with us the talent, techniques and artistic expression involved in gastronomy.

  • Acclaimed author, cook, journalist and food blogger Michael Ruhlman opens the series on March 1.
  • The special guest on March 22 is the Pulitzer Prize-winning restaurant critic of the LA Weekly, Jonathan Gold.
  • On April 5, Susan Feniger, chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, radio and TV personality, co-chef/owner of Border Grill restaurants and Truck and chef/owner of Susan Feniger’s STREET joins LACO for the final performance.

Following the Orchestra’s signature “conversations” style, the musicians introduce the pieces from the stage. There is no intermission.

The 3-concert series takes place at the state-of-the-art Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center.
