Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra: making great music personal

Amy Bassett

Amy Bassett grew up in Barre, a small town in central Massachusetts along the Quabbin Reservoir. She began working for the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra in October of 2007. Prior to starting at LACO, she received her Doctoral of Music Arts degree from The Ohio State University, where she was the Graduate Teaching Associate. In May of 2004 she received her master of music degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she worked with the Endangered Instruments Project which places bassoons, oboes and horns into the hands of middle school children. In 2002, she received her bachelor’s degree in bassoon performance from Ithaca College.

Amy continues to practice her bassoon and play gigs in her free time outside of managing LACO rehearsals and working downtown. Growing up with two brothers, Amy enjoys running and spending time outside. Amy recently adopted a kitten named Kovar who likes to hide in the closet and climb in his own personal jungle, the jade plant.
