Shawne Natalia Zarubica is an enthusiastically engaged arts advocate, arts administrator and performing musician. Born in New York and raised in Los Angeles, Shawne has a special kinship with both of these vibrant cities and their arts communities and has pursued an eclectic and adventurous career in the performing arts, encompassing both a strong grounding in the rich traditions of western classical music, theatre and film, as well as a focus on new and innovative performing arts forms.
A passionate believer in the transformative power of music and art in the lives of individuals and communities, Shawne brings a strong commitment to advancing the causes of arts education and enhanced arts access for participants of all ages.
A trained classical pianist and singer and a Music Performance/Composition Major at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Shawne also has extensive training and experience in theatre arts and has maintained an active involvement in both the administrative and performing arts arenas throughout her career.
Shawne’s professional credits include senior creative project management at the Walt Disney Studios, including visual, technical and music production credits on several critically acclaimed animated features and shorts. She has also enjoyed success in varied roles at the Mark Taper Forum including festival production management and literary management, plus production stage management on such projects as A Line Around The Block (Marga Gomez); The Sunshine Boys (Neil Simon); Sassy Girl (Cheryl Marie Wade); A Huey P. Newton Story (Roger Guenveur Smith); A Contemporary Chautauqua – Performance and Disability (Mark Taper Forum/Other Voices) and several Taper Too/New Work Festival Productions. Most recently Shawne has enjoyed working as an independent arts management consultant, working with the Pasadena Symphony & POPS, Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra, and other institutional arts projects.
Shawne performs regularly with the Pasadena Master Chorale, the Los Angeles Bach Festival and the newly formed MUSE/IQUE Ensemble. She is an emeritus member of the fabled Fountain Theater Workshop for actors and playwrights and a current member of the ZajacStudio opera group.
