Originally from Oregon, Carrie comes to the LACO with an array of experiences from all over the country (and London). Her passion for the arts stems from trips to the symphony, ballet and theatre at an early age with her family. She began studying classical and jazz piano when she was only 6 years old (because she had to do everything her older sister did) and fell in love with it immediately, eventually accompanying school choirs and attending summer master classes.
During her time at Wake Forest University, Carrie studied abroad in London and volunteered with Punchdrunk Theatre Company. It was here she realized she could turn her passion for the arts into a career. After graduating with a double major in English and Economics, she began to pursue a career in arts management with a marketing apprenticeship at The Studio Theatre in Washington, DC and subsequently, a position in public relations at The Old Globe in San Diego.
Carrie found a way back to London a few years later to attend graduate school for an MA in Cultural Policy and Management at City University London. She worked on several exciting projects, including a site-specific arts festival for the Cultural Olympiad during the 2012 London Olympics.
Carrie landed in Los Angeles in 2012 with a job working at the LA County Arts Commission and couldn’t be happier to call this city her new home. She’s excited to start her journey with LACO and continue exploring the endless cultural offerings that Los Angeles has to offer!
