about Alex Theatre
Since 1925, the Alex Theatre has been a Los Angeles area landmark. Designed by architects Charles R. Selkirk and Arthur G. Lindley, the Alexander Theatre, as it was originally known, opened its doors as a vaudeville and motion picture house. Featuring Greek and Egyptian motifs, the Alex Theatre is not only an important example of the grand theatres of the early 20th century; it also provides a strong sense of identity for downtown Glendale, California.

From Sunset Blvd., enter the north side of campus at Royce Drive (between Westwood Plaza and Hilgard Avenue). Proceed straight ahead to Parking Structure 5. From Structure 5, cross the footbridge to Royce Hall.
All event parking is $11 (rate subject to change).
Effective January 1, 2010, visitors who use a Department of Motor Vehicles issued disabled person (DP) placard or license plate to park on campus will be charged a $4 daily fee.

The Herbert Zipper Concert Hall at The Colburn School was completed in 1998, making it about 70 years younger than LACO’s other two regular concert venues. It seats approximately 400 and has among the best acoustics of music performance venues in Los Angeles. LACO’s compact disc on Deutsche Grammophon featuring Hilary Hahn as well as two cds featuring Jeffrey Kahane in recital were recorded in Zipper Concert Hall.

The Broad Stage is the premier performance facility for Santa Monica College and the surrounding community. Its 499-seat state-of-the-art theater anchors a performing arts complex at the Santa Monica College Madison Campus. The Broad Stage boasts an impressive art gallery featuring art exhibitions by students, faculty and world-class artists. The venue provides a new space to present dance, theater, voice, film, spoken word and chamber music.

During Westside Connections Santa Monica College is in session, and on-site parking is strictly reserved for College students. LACO recommends parking at the Santa Monica Library at $0.50 per 30-minute increment, where LACO provides a complimentary shuttle service between the Library and The Broad Stage.
Shuttle service runs from 6 pm to 11 pm. To use the shuttle, go directly to the Library parking structure located on 7th Street, between Santa Monica and Arizona.
Park in the underground structure and take the elevator to Level 1. A parking attendant will direct you across the plaza to the shuttle site on the north side of the parking complex. Don’t forget your parking ticket for the return trip after the performance.
Please note: The Library parking facility closes at 11 pm. Additional metered parking is available along Broadway, Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards, free after 6pm.
You may drop off members of your party at The Broad Stage. The lobby opens at 6:30 pm.

Known as the “Carnegie Hall of the West,” Ambassador Auditorium hosted 20 seasons of the world’s best musicians and performers from 1974 to 1995. Its magnificent walls have reverberated with the sound of applause from 2.5 million concertgoers at over 2,500 concerts, while achieving a world-renowned reputation as one of the world’s finest performance halls.
Since opening in 1974 when the Vienna Symphony Orchestra performed at its inauguration, the acoustically perfect auditorium hosted such famed performers as Luciano Pavarotti, Pearl Bailey, Yo-Yo Ma, and Vladimir Horowitz. After playing the auditorium, many of these artists concluded the acoustics exceeded those of Carnegie Hall.

Parking is available directly beneath Walt Disney Concert Hall. Enter on Second Street or Lower Grand Avenue. Regular parking costs $8 beginning at 5:00 p.m. for evening concerts; two hours before weekday matinees; and all day on weekends. Both the Second Street and Lower Grand entrances will be open 6:00am to midnight, Monday through Friday, and 7:00am to midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
Valet parking is available for $20 at the Hope Street entrance, beginning at 5:00 p.m. for evening concerts; two hours before weekday matinees; and all day on weekends. The Hope Street valet and Founders parking entrance will open three hours before each concert.
