SESSION Selections

FRIDAY, MAY 22
🎥 Premiere broadcast at 8:00 P.M. (PDT)

YouTube video will appear here when available. You may need to refresh your browser.

The program includes Entr’acte by New York-based composer, vocalist, violinist and producer Caroline Shaw, who cites the music of Franz Joseph Haydn as her inspiration for the work, and Nina C. Young’s Memento Mori, a meditation on life and the perception of time, with musical material drawn from Bach’s The Art of Fugue, from a live SESSION performance curated by former LACO Creative Advisor Andrew Norman on May 24, 2018 at Angel City Brewery’s Beer Hall in downtown L.A.’s Arts District. It also features Juan Pablo Contreras’ celebratory Ángel Mestizo, for harp, double quintet and percussion, from a live SESSION performance curated by Composer + LACO Artist Educator Derrick Spiva Jr. on October 8, 2018, at Hauser & Wirth in downtown L.A.

SESSION has been made possible, in part, by the generosity of donors including Ruth Eliel + Bill Cooney, Howard + Judith Jelinek, Leslie Lassiter, and Clare Baren + David Dwiggins.
