After an unexpected vacation back east last week to see my family, I arrived at LACO this morning with mounting excitement and a twinge of anxiety. There is so much to learn, and quickly, but my new co-workers relieved my nerves with their warm hospitality and willingness to share their experiences. I feel a part of the LACO family already and am eagerly anticipating this weekend’s concerts, particularly Harbison’s Gli accordi più usati, which I first heard in college during a music theory class.
Like the city itself, LACO is committed to adventurous explorations of the arts and I am thrilled to work for an organization that possess an audience that eagerly anticipates the new masters alongside the old. I have found the arts community in Los Angeles particularly welcoming and stimulating and LACO is no exception.
Over the next few months, my fiancé and I intend to move into the city from Anaheim and make it our home. I hope that as I work the box office at future performances, LACO and its audience will become my second home in an exciting professional and personal year. I look forward to meeting you all!
