You will this weekend if you attend Mozart’s Prague!
LACO presents the world premiere of Mar de Setembro (“September Sea”) by composer-in-residence Derek Bermel this Saturday, May 14 at 8 pm at the Alex Theatre in Glendale and on Sunday, May 15 at 7 pm at UCLA’s Royce Hall. The LACO Sound Investment commissioned piece features soprano and renowned bossa nova performer Luciana Souza and is set to selected works by Portuguese poet Eugénio de Andrade.
Join Derek and KUSC’s Brian Lauritzen on a new LACO podcast as they discuss the creative process behind Sound Investment, how a composer tackles a commission and why Derek chose the aqua phone for LACO principal percussion Wade Culbreath.
