“The miracle is this – the more we share, the more we have.”
—Leonard Nimoy

Now that Thanksgiving has passed and all the excitement and rush of the holiday season begins, I would like to take a moment to say “thank you” to a remarkable group of people with whom I am privileged to work on a regular basis, namely, our LACO Meet the Music docents.

Over the years, we have been graced with many gifted and dedicated docents, each bringing a unique perspective and set of abilities. And though the various docent teams have shifted and changed over the years, one thing has remained a constant – a willingness to reach out and share a lifelong love of music and music making with young people everywhere.

As I write, many of our 2012-13 Meet the Music docents are fanning out across the city, visiting LAUSD classrooms citywide and presenting specially crafted lessons in preparation for upcoming Meet the Music concert outings. Our docents generously dedicate many hours of their personal time to preparing and presenting (not to mention commuting), all of which is key to making Meet the Music the beloved program that it is.

This season we are privileged to welcome back several veteran docents and we are also enormously pleased to welcome several new docents to the team. It is my great pleasure to list their names here:

Ikem Asimonye
Sarah Bauzá
Holly Cook
Angela Cross
Pam Kredell
Larry Liebenbaum
Natasha Marin
Sunny Moss
Stewart Rupp
Karyn Shatzkin
Erica Solano

To all of our docents past, present and future — THANK YOU, we could not do it without you!

Happy Holidays!
