The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra believes that classical music is a joy to be shared by everyone. Through its community programs, LACO reaches thousands of elementary school students and families, many of whom have little or no access to the city’s cultural institutions.

LACO’s Meet the Music program reaches thousands of grade school students of varied cultural and musical backgrounds. Offered in cooperation with the Los Angeles Unified School District, Meet the Music fosters listening skills, encourages involvement in music making, and provides personal contact with musicians and composers.
family concerts
Sunday afternoon concerts at the Alex Theatre are an introduction to music that is sure to bring joy for a lifetime! Creative pre-concert activities that amuse, enrich and involve. Kids get to bang, pluck, strike and blow on real instruments at our “Instrument Petting Zoo” and enjoy crafts and interactive workshops.
neighborhood concerts
For over a decade, LACO’s Neighborhood Concerts have literally brought music home to many individuals and families for whom classical music concerts are not easily accessible or not on the cultural radar. Co-produced in partnership with local grassroots organizations, Neighborhood Concerts offer live performances by LACO artists in convenient community venues such as churches and civic theaters.
