Each year, LACO applies through the Constitutional Rights Foundation (CRF) for a high school intern to assist with office projects. I would love to introduce you to Ammi Meza, this year’s CRF intern, whose hard-work and positive attitude have brightened the summer days at LACO’s office:
Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra has involved itself with the community and me in many different ways, such as the project Play Me, I’m Yours and the concerts at various locations. My first experience with LACO was at Royce Hall at UCLA. Listening to such poignant music, creating and demolishing emotions in an instant, was very exciting to experience. I enjoyed the music very much as it had me listening to those lovely violins and cellos, among other instruments. I was caught between the lovely melodies as I remembered why I started to enjoy the world of music. I also was fortunate to play at the piano placed outside the Royce Hall.
As I volunteered with LACO at the Alex Theatre for Mozart and Me, I was able to see how LACO affected many children’s perspective of music. Their minds were blown away and craved for more knowledge of both the music and instruments. It was such a great experience because I got to see how intrigued the children were during the event.
I am exited with this great privilege and opportunity as it will help me flourish with new knowledge and experiences. I am looking forward to helping and working with everyone, as well as eating cupcakes with Tom and Don. I am ready to learn and gain new experiences on each day passing day as it will help me exceed in life and become wonderful memories stored within me as well.
