Experience great music in the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. Led by music director Jeffrey Kahane, LACO’s 40 virtuosos perform classics from Vivaldi to Mozart, Beethoven to Prokofiev and beyond “with pure joy and it shows.” (LA Opus)
Following the Orchestra’s signature “conversations” style, the musicians introduce the pieces from the stage. There is no intermission. The 3-concert series takes place at the new Ann and Jerry Moss Theater at New Roads School located in The Herb Albert Educational Village in Santa Monica.
Concerts take place at the Moss Theater.
Explore the genesis of orchestral repertoire from early Baroque schools through the Pre-Classical period. In signature LACO style, the artists introduce the music from the stage, share their insights and invite your questions. The evening begins with a complimentary reception for all ticket holders one hour before curtain.
Concerts take place at Zipper Concert Hall.
With support from the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs’ Cultural Engagement International initiative, we welcome adventuresome Dutch pianist Daria van den Bercken for a two-week residency with LACO. Best known for her “musical affection and an immaculate virtuosity” (Gramophone) and her unorthodox methods of spreading that affection, van den Bercken presents a solo recital on LACO’s Baroque Conversations series; plays open-air sets at Hollywood & Highland with LACO musicians and a vocalist from LA Opera’s Young Artists program; performs with Orchestra members in the Hear Now Festival of music by Los Angeles composers; makes an in-store appearance at Amoeba Music; networks with LA artists; and performs for LAUSD elementary students.
Daria van den Bercken’s appearance is made possible by a grant from the City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural Affairs, and by Dutch Culture USA, the division of the Kingdom of Netherlands’ government that supports and promotes Dutch arts and culture in the US, in partnership with DutchCulture Centre for International Cooperation and the Dutch Fund for the Performing Arts.
