Beethoven + Schumann

In Focus: Beethoven continues with Beethoven’s Piano Trio, one of his earliest chamber works. 2018-19 Sound Investment composer Sarah Gibson is also featured on the program. She will compose (and perform) a new work for piano and string quartet. The final work of the evening is Robert Schumann’s Piano Quintet.

Curated by concertmaster Margaret Batjer, In Focus features some of Beethoven’s most successful and popular chamber music.

the venues

In Focus takes place at two outstanding venues: Santa Monica’s First Presbyterian Church and the elegant Rothenberg Hall located at The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens in San Marino. This provides convenience and accessibility for both West and Eastsiders – in essence, putting the Orchestra’s music where its audiences live.

Sound Investment

Each season, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra commissions and premieres a new piece of music composed especially to suit its unparalleled musical talents. Investors are invited to a series of intimate salons where they meet the composer, hear excerpts of the score-in-progress and attend a full orchestral rehearsal of the completed work.
