CURRENT: Equilibrium

SUNDAY, APRIL 10 AT 5 P.M.

Composer and LACO artistic advisor Derrick Skye presents CURRENT: Equilibrium, a hand-picked selection of works—including three world premieres—that invites audiences to experience the euphonic groove of Electro-Acoustic classical music. From the “highly rhythmic clouds of sound” (Kalvos + Damien) of Ann Southam’Re-Tuning, to Dai Wei’s stirring Partial Men (dedicated to deceased organ donors who extend others’ lives), to the propulsive, nimble counterpoint of flutes and electronics in Nathalie Joachim’s Life Lines, the concert explores the exquisite tensions that exist around us in all forms.

This event is 21 & over.

[Effective January 2022, LACO’s vaccine requirement for all eligible audience members includes a COVID-19 booster obtained no later than the date of the performance.

Eligibility for the COVID-19 booster is as follows: for all Moderna recipients and Pfizer recipients ages 12+, boosters are eligible five months after their second vaccine dose. Johnson & Johnson vaccine recipients are eligible for a booster dose two months after their initial vaccine.]

LACO’S 2021/22 SEASON

November 13, 2021 – May 15, 2022

Music Director Jaime Martín will leap to the podium in November as he unites the Orchestra to welcome us all back to the concert hall. This year, Jaime expands on what makes LACO truly remarkable: an orchestra of soloists.

LACO will perform as usual on both the east and west sides, sticking to the regulars like Royce Hall, Alex Theatre, Zipper Hall and Rothenberg Hall. Some will already be familiar with our newer additions like Ambassador Auditorium and The Broad Stage. However, please note that we will not be following our usual Eastside + Westside double night concerts schedule this season. Most chamber and orchestral concerts have distinct programming and will be performed on only one night unless otherwise noted.
