Sandy Hughes

Sandy Hughes became a member of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra in the 2012-13 season. In addition to LACO, Sandy is a member of the Bateira Trio and on the studio recording roster for Hollywood Scoring.
She has appeared frequently with the New York Philharmonic— including a European tour— as well as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra,Colorado Symphony, as guest Principal Flute with the Pageant of the Masters, and was previously a member of the Akron Symphony Orchestra.
A Fulbright Grant recipient, and twice a fellow of both the Tanglewood and Aspen festivals, Sandy studied at the Manhattan School of Music with Robert Langevin, and at the Hartt School with John Wion. She simultaneously earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Hartford.
Sandy enjoys spending time with her family in Oregon. She is a sailor, a Strala yogi, a foodie, and she loves to travel with her husband, Patrick. Often found with her nose stuck in a book, her favorite author is Jane Austen.
